E-filed State Registration forms are currently accepted by Pennsylvania and Colorado.
Effective 6/18/2003: Colorado now requires only 1 officer to Authenticate the State Registration and Annual Report. This is due to a change in the State Law. Colorado filers will no longer need to have two officers go through the Authentication process.
The following steps describe the efiling process:
1 Request a Login ID and password. You must have a login ID and Password to electronically file your Form 990 and/or State Registration forms using this site. If you are a nonprofit, your Login ID is based on your organization's EIN. Paid preparers may select their own Login ID. All users select their own password. We now have two types of Login ID's: Full Login ID's and EZWeb Login ID's. A Full Login ID allows you to submit returns using either the Desktop 990 or the new 990 Online web based system. EZWeb Login ID's only allow you to enter and electronically file your Form 990-EZ using the new 990 Online system. You may not use an EZWeb Login ID to submit a return prepared with the Desktop 990 Software. EZWeb Login ID's are activated immediately. Full Login ID's are sent to one of the State Charity Offices in a participating state for approval. Approval may take up to two business days. You will receive an email once your log in ID and password have been activated.
2 Enter your form 990-EZ Online. If all you need to do is enter and file a Form 990 EZ with the IRS, you can use our new 990 Online system. This system allows you to enter, view, verify and electronically file your form 990-EZ return with the IRS. You will need to have an active EZWeb or Full Login ID (see above) to begin this process.
3 Complete your 990-EZ, Schedule A, and Schedule B along with requested attachments and take advantage of the many features built into the 990 Online, including an easy-to-use, intuitive interface and line-by-line reference to IRS instructions and expert tips.
4 Authenticate your Form 990. This is the electronic equivilant of signing the form. If the Form 990 was submitted by a paid preparer, they should authenticate it first. Once that is done, you can review the Form 990 from the web to verify it's accuracy, and then an authorized officer can authenticate the return.
5 Electronically file or mail your Form 990 and applicable Schedules and Statements to the IRS.
